CPR training

Save a life Cymru and FAW provided a hugely useful first aid session to parents and coaches from Inter Penarth on 7 Sep. The free session was focussed on CPR and use of a defibrillator (AED) providing hugely informative and practical advice.

There are over 6000 cardiac arrests in Wales every year, with a 3% survival rate- a pretty shocking statistic, especially when compared to 25% elsewhere in Europe. Most of this is down to a lack of understanding of what to do - but it couldn't be simpler.

This CPR in Action video provides a great perspective on the effect of CPR, and the effects of the AED in action. Attendees got the chance to practice both CPR and use of the AED under the supervision of a highly experienced and knowledgeable instructor.

Thanks very much to Dave Stamper for organising the course. Further sessions are available by contacting Stephen Roberts - highly recommended for all parents and coaches, and suitable for kids too.

The BHF has loads of material and free online CPR training which can be done by all (including kids) -
